Minecraft - One World Trade Center

Scale is 1:3 of the real tower, the 256 height limit is a real drag...

Idea came from a CNN Money vid I watched today showing the tower's interior being fitted

Now the tallest building in the United States, succeeding the Sears Tower in Chicago, the One World Trade Center is currently being furnished & fitted, when complete, this mighty tower will be New York City's newest tourist attraction & an important financial center for the city. But this tower may not have been conceived after the tragic events of September 11th, 2001, which destroyed the original World Trade Center. This tower stands on the former tower's foundations.

After some time spent on considering many designs for the new tower, construction began in 2004. However, after 9/11, many debated on how secure skyscrapers are today in the face of global terrorism & thus deemed too vulnerable in their current state. With this in mind, the One World Trade Center had to be built with the latest security measures in place to ensure it's survivability & safety of it's occupants. This caused a blip in the construction schedule, but after two years of being on hold, construction resumed in 2006.

It's design is that of a typical modern skyscraper in many respects, that is an all glass facade with a steel frame for structural strength. The prismatic motif is what makes this tower stand out from New York's other buildings, and it's height is also of note; it stands at 1,776 feet (541 meters) symbolic of the year the United States Declaration of Independence.

Though the exterior is finished, the interior is being worked on, and there are remnants of the original twin towers being incorporated in it's interior. It will feature offices, a restaurant,  & an observation deck. There are mock-ups of what the offices will look like when the tower opens, & already about 55% of the office space has been leased.

When this magnificent tower opens at the end of 2014, it will serve as a memorial for those who perished on what is perhaps the most infamous date of modern times, a date that will never be forgotten.
